merciful-jesus

On the 22th February, 1931, in a cell of the convent of the Congregation of the Sisters of Our Lady of Mercy in Płock, Jesus appeared to Sister Faustina.

In the evening, when I was in my cell I saw the Lord Jesus clothed in a white garment. One hand was raised in the gesture of blessing, the other was touching the garment at the breast. From beneath the garment, slightly drawn aside at the breast, there were emanating two large rays, one red, the other pale (…) After a while, Jesus said to me: ‚Paint an image according to the pattern you see: with the signature: Jesus, I trust in You’. I desire that this image be venerated, first in your chapel and [then] throughout the world (Diary 47).

The soul that will venerate this image will not perish (Diary 48)

The two rays denote Blood and Water. The pale ray stands for the Water which makes souls righteous. The red ray stands for the Blood which is the life of souls… – These two rays issued forth from the very depths of My tender mercy when My agonized Heart was opened by a lance on the Cross (Diary 299).

Happy is the one who will dwell in their shelter, for the just hand of God shall not lay hold of him (Diary 299).

My gaze from this image is like My gaze from the cross (Diary 326).

Jesus reminded me of what He had told me the first time; namely, that these three words must be clearly in evidence: ‚Jesus, I trust in You’. I understood that Jesus wanted the whole formula to be there (Diary 327).

I am offering people a vessel with which they are to keep coming for graces to the fountain of mercy. That vessel is the image with the signature: ‚Jesus, I trust in You’ (Diary 327).

By means of this Image I shall be granting many graces to souls; so, let every soul have access to it (Diary 570).

Today I saw the glory of God which flows from the image. Many souls are receiving graces, although they do not speak of it openly. Even though it has met up with all sorts of vicissitudes, God is receiving glory because of it ; and the efforts of Satan and of evil men are shattered and come to naught. In spite of Satan’s anger, the Divine Mercy will triumph over the whole world and will be worshiped by all souls (Diary 1789).

  • Feast of Mercy

cq5dam.thumbnail.cropped.750.422

The Feast of Mercy is celebrated on the first Sunday after Easter, that is on the Second Sunday of Easter, which is called the Divine Mercy Sunday today.

In 1995, at the request of the Polish Episcopal Conference, Holy Father John Paul II instituted the feast in all dioceses in Poland. On the day of Sister Faustina’s canonization, 30th April 2000, the Pope instituted the feast for the whole Church.

The Lord Jesus told Sister Faustina :  I desire that there be a Feast of Mercy. I want this image, which you will paint with a brush, to be solemnly blessed on the first Sunday after Easter; that Sunday is to be the Feast of Mercy (Diary 49).

I desire that the first Sunday after Easter be the Feast of Mercy (Diary 299).

I desire that the Feast of Mercy be a refuge and shelter for all souls, and especially for poor sinners. On that day the very depths of My tender Mercy are open. I pour out a whole ocean of graces upon those souls who approach the Fount of My Mercy. The soul that will go to Confession and receive Holy Communion shall obtain complete forgiveness of sins and punishment. On that day all the divine floodgates through which graces flow are opened (Diary 699).

The first Sunday after Easter is the Feast of Mercy, but there must also be acts of mercy, and I demand the worship of My mercy through the solemn celebration of the Feast and through the veneration of the image (Diary 742).

Souls perish in spite of My bitter Passion. I am giving them the last hope of salvation; that is, the Feast of My Mercy. If they will not adore My mercy, they will perish for all eternity (Diary 965).

The Feast of My Mercy has issued forth from My very depths for the consolation of the whole world (Diary 1517).

  • Hour of Mercy

Image result for hour of mercy

The Lord Jesus said that, at 3 P.M, we can make the Stations of the Cross, visit the Blessed Sacrament and if there is no time for it – if only for a brief moment – we can unite ourselves with Him, dying on the cross.

The Lord Jesus said to Sister Faustina: “At three o’clock implore My mercy, especially for sinners; and, if only for a brief moment, immerse yourself in My Passion, particularly in My abandonment at the moment of agony. This is the hour of great mercy for the whole world” (Diary 1320).

„In this hour, I will refuse nothing to the soul that makes request of Me in virtue of My Passion” (Diary 1320)

„In this hour you can obtain everything for yourself and for others for the asking” (Diary 1572).

„I remind you, My daughter, that as often as you hear the clock strike the third hour, immerse yourself completely in My mercy, adoring and glorifying it; invoke its omnipotence for the whole world, and particularly for poor sinners; for at that moment mercy was opened wide for every soul. (…) It was the hour of grace for the whole world – mercy triumphed over justice” (Diary 1572).

„Try your best to make the Stations of the Cross in this hour, provided that your duties permit it; and if you are not able to make the Stations of the Cross, then at least step into the chapel for a moment and adore, in the Blessed Sacrament, My Heart, which is full of mercy; and should you be unable to step into the chapel, immerse yourself in prayer there where you happen to be, if only for a brief instant” (Diary 1572).

  • Sacraments

Sister Faustina regarded all the sacraments, especially the Sacrament of Reconciliation and the Eucharist, as great gifts of Divine Mercy.

téléchargement (5).jpgThe Sacrament of Reconciliation

Our Lord Jesus to Sister Faustina : Tell souls where they are to look for solace; that is, in the Tribunal of Mercy. There the greatest miracles take place, are incessantly repeated. To avail oneself of this miracle, it is not necessary to go on a great pilgrimage or to carry out some external ceremony; it suffices to come with faith to the feet of My representative and to reveal to him one’s misery, and the miracle of Divine Mercy will be fully demonstrated. Were a soul like a decaying corpse so that from a human standpoint, there would be no restoration and everything would already be lost, it is not so with God. Oh, miserable are those who do not take advantage of the miracle of God’s mercy! (Diary 1448).

images (7)The Sacrament of Eucharist and Holy Mass

Sister Faustina spent a lot of time each day adoring the Blessed Sacrament. I will spend all my free moments at the feet of the Master hidden in the Blessed Sacrament. He has been tutoring me from my most tender years (Diary 82)

Sister Faustina wrote about the institution of the Eucharist, and I was witness to what happened there. However, I was most deeply moved when, before consecration, Jesus raised His eyes to heaven and entered into a mysterious conversation with His Father. It is only in eternity that we shall really understand that moment. His eyes were like two flames; His face was radiant, white as snow ; His whole personage full of majesty, His soul full of longing. At the moment of Consecration, love rested satiated – the sacrifice fully consummated. Now only the external ceremony of death will be carried out – external destruction; the essence [of it] is in the Cenacle (Diary 684).

Sister Faustina : Today during Holy Mass I saw the Crucified Jesus, she recorded in her Diary, Jesus was nailed to the cross and was in great agony. His suffering pierced me, soul and body, in a manner which was invisible, but nevertheless most painful. Oh, what awesome mysteries take place during Mass! With what great devotion should we listen to and take part in this death of Jesus (Diary 913-914).

Our Lord Jesus encouraged sister Faustina to meditate upon His love in the Blessed Sacrament. Here, I am entirely yours, soul, body and divinity (Diary 1770)

Based on St. Faustina’s Diary – Divine Mercy in My Soul

Introductory Prayer :
Merciful Jesus, my Master, I desire to follow you in fidelity and imitate you each day with more perfection. For this reason I beg you, that through the meditation of your Passion, I may receive the grace of understanding each day with more perfection, the mysteries of the spiritual life. Mary, Mother of Mercy, always faithful to Christ, guide me through the steps of the sorrowful passion of your Son and grant me the necessary graces so that this Way of the Cross may be fruitful in my heart.

I STATION – Jesus is Condemned to Death

Jesus to Saint Faustina: Do not be surprised that you are sometimes unjustly accused.
I myself first drank this cup of undeserved suffering for love of you. (289). When I was before Herod, I obtained a grace for you, that you would be able to rise above humanscorn and follow faithfully in my footsteps. (1164).
Saint Faustina: Jesus, we are sensitive to words and quickly want to answer back, without taking any regard as to whether it’s God’s will that we should speak. A silent soul is strong: no adversities will harm it if it perseveres in silence. The silent soul is capable of attaining the closest union with God. (477).
Merciful Jesus, help me accept each human judgment; do not ever allow me to judge you when judging my neighbor.

II STATION: Jesus takes up His Cross

Jesus to Saint Faustina: Do not be afraid of suffering, I am with you, (151 ). The more you will come to love suffering, the purer your love for Me will be. (279).
Saint Faustina: Oh Jesus, I thank you for the Little daily crosses, for opposition to my endeavors, for the hardships of communal life, for the misinterpretation of my intentions, for humiliations at the hands of others, for the harsh way in which we are treated, for false suspicions, for poor health and loss of strength, for self-denial, for dying to myself, for lack of recognition in everything, for the upsetting of all my plans. (343).
Merciful Jesus, teach me to appreciate the difficulties of life, sickness, each suffering, and with love take up my daily cross.

III STATION: Jesus falls for the first time

Jesus to Saint Faustina: Involuntary offenses of souls do not hinder My love for them or prevent Me from uniting Myself with them. But voluntary offenses, obstruct my graces, and I cannot lavish My gifts on such souls. (1641).
Saint Faustina: Oh my Jesus, how prone I am to evil, and this forces me to be constantly vigilant. But I do not lose heart. I trust God’s grace, which abounds in the worst misery. (606).
Merciful Lord, keep me from any infidelity, even the smallest one, but voluntary and consent.

IV STATION: Jesus meets His Mother

Jesus to Saint Faustina: Although all the work that come into being by My will are exposed to great sufferings, consider whether any of them has been subject to greater difficulties than that work which is directly Mine – The work of Redemption. You should not worry too much about adversities. (1643).
Saint Faustina: I saw the Blessed Mother (…), she came close to me (…) and said these words: Be courageous. Do not fear apparent obstacles, but fix your gaze upon the Passion of My Son, and in this way you will be victorious. (449).
Mary, Mother of Mercy, be always with me, especially in suffering, in the same way that you were present in your Son’s way of the Cross.

V STATION: Simon Cyrene helps Jesus carry the Cross

Jesus to Saint Faustina: I permit these adversities in order to increase his merit. I do not reward for good results but for the patience and hardship undergone for My sake. (86).
Saint Faustina: Oh, my Jesus, you do not give a reward for the successful performance of a work, but for the good will and the labor undertaken. Therefore, I am completely at peace, even if all my undertakings and efforts should be thwarted or should come to naught. If I do all that is in my power, the rest is not my business. (952).
Jesus, that each thought, each word, each activity may be done only for love of you.
Purify my intentions.

VI STATION: Veronica wipes the face of Jesus

Jesus to Saint Faustina: Know that whatever good you do for any soul, I accept it as if you had done it to Me. (1768).
Saint Faustina: I am learning how to be good from Jesus, from Him who is goodness itself, so that I might be called a daughter of the heavenly Father. (669). Great love can change small things into great ones, and it is only love which lends value to our actions. (303).
Lord Jesus. My Master, make my eyes, my hands, my mouth, my heart… merciful.
Transform me into your Mercy.

VII STATION: Jesus falls for the second time

Jesus to Saint Faustina: The cause of your falls is that you rely too much upon yourself and too Little on Me. (1488). You must know that on your own, you can’t do nothing.(639). You are not even capable of receiving my graces without my help. (738).
Saint Faustina: Jesus, do not leave me alone (..). You know, Lord, how weak I am. I am an abyss of wretchedness; I am nothingness itself; so what will be so strange if You leave me alone and I fall (1489). So You, Jesus, must stand by me constantly like a mother by a helpless child – and even more so. (264).
May I lean on your grace, Lord, so that I may not fall continuously on the same errors : and if I fall, help me rise and glorify your Mercy.

VIII STATION: Jesus consoles the women of Jerusalem

Jesus to Saint Faustina: Oh, how pleasing to Me is a living faith! (1420). I desire that you would all have more faith at the present time (352).
Saint Faustina: I fervently beg the Lord to strengthen my faith, so that in my drab, everyday life I will not be guided by human depositions, but by those of the spirit. Oh, how everything drags man towards the earth! But lively faith maintains the soul in the highest regions and assigns self-love it’s proper place, that is to say, the lowest one. (210).
Merciful Lord, thank you for Holy Baptism and the grace of faith. I call you again. Lord, I believe, increase my faith!

IX STATION: Jesus falls for the third time

Jesus to Saint Faustina: Know that the greatest obstacles to holiness are discouragement and an exaggerated anxiety. This will deprive you of the ability to practice virtue ( …). I am always willing to forgive you. Every time you ask for it, you glorify my Mercy (1488).
Saint Faustina: Oh My Jesus, in spite of your graces. I see and feel all my misery. I begin my day with a battle and end it with a battle. As soon as I conquer one obstacle, ten more appear to take its place. But I am not worried, because I know that this is the time of struggle, not peace. (606)
Merciful Lord, I give you everything that is my exclusive property, that is, sin and human frailty. I beg you, that my misery may be drowned in your unfathomable Mercy.

X STATION: Jesus is stripped of His Garments

Saint Faustina: Jesus was suddenly standing before me , stripped of His clothes, His body completely covered with wounds, His eyes flooded with tears and blood, His face disfigured and covered with spittle. The Lord then said to me: “The bride must resemble her Betrothed.”
Saint Faustina: I understood these words to the very depth. There’s no room for doubt here. My likeness to Jesus must be through suffering and humility(268).
Jesus, meek and humble of heart, transform my heart according to your Heart.

XI STATION: Jesus is nailed to the Cross

Jesus to Saint Faustina: My pupil, have great love for those who cause you suffering. Do good to those who hate you (1628).
Saint Faustina: Oh my Jesus, you know what efforts are needed to live sincerely and unaffectedly with those from whom our nature flees, or with those who, deliberately or not, have made us suffer. Humanly speaking, this is impossible at such times more than others, I try to discover the Lord Jesus in such a person ad for this same Jesus, I do everything for such a people. ( 766).
Oh purest Love, reign in all your plenitude in my heart and allow me to love more than what human measure allows me to. (328).

XII STATION: Jesus dies on the Cross

Jesus to Saint Faustina: All this is for the salvation of souls. Reflect, my daughter, about what you do for their salvation (1184).
Saint Faustina: Then I saw the Lord Jesus nailed to the cross. When He had hung on it for a while, I saw a multitude of souls crucified like Him. The second multitude were not nailed to their crosses, but they were holding them firmly in their hands. The third were neither nailed to their crosses nor holding them firmly in their hands, but were dragging their crosses behind them and were discontent.
Jesus then said to me: Jesus: Do you see these souls? Those who are like Me in the pain and contempt they suffer will be like Me also in glory. And those who resemble Me less in pain and contempt will also bear less resemblance to Me in glory. (446).
Jesus, my Savior, hide me in the depths of Your Heart so that nourished by your grace, I may be able to be like you in the love for the cross and in the participation of Your glory.

XIII STATION: Jesus is laid in the arms of His Mother

Jesus to Saint Faustina: Most dear to me is the soul that strongly believes in my goodness and has complete trust in me. I heap my confidence upon it, and give it all it asks (453).
Saint Faustina: I come to Your Mercy, compassionate God, only You are goodness itself. Although my misery is great, and my offences are many, I trust in Your mercy, because You are the God of mercy; and from time immemorial, it has never been heard of, nor do heaven or earth remember, that a soul trusting in Your mercy has been disappointed (1730)
Jesus, multiply in me each day the trust in Your Mercy, so that always and everywhere I may be a witness of your goodness and infinite love.

XIV STATION: Jesus is laid in the tomb

Jesus to Saint Faustina: You are not yet in your homeland; so go, fortified by My grace, and fight for My kingdom in human souls; fight as a king’s child would; and remember that the days of your exile will pass quickly, and with them the possibility of earning merits for heaven. I expect from you (…) a great number of souls who will glorify my mercy for all eternity (1489).
Saint Faustina: Every soul You have entrusted to me, Jesus, I will try to aid with prayer and sacrifice, so that your grace can work in them. Oh great Lover of souls, my Jesus, I thank you for this immense confidence with which You have deigned to place souls in our care. (245).
Merciful Lord, I beg you that not even one of the souls which you have entrusted to me, may be lost.

PRAYER AFTER THE WAY OF THE CROSS

My Jesus, my only hope, I am grateful for this great book you have opened before the
eyes of my soul. This great book is your Passion you have confronted out of love for
me. From this book I have learned how to love God and souls. Inexhaustible treasures are stored in it (…) Oh Jesus, how few souls understand you in your martyrdom of love (…). Happy the soul that has understood the love from the Heart of Jesus (304).

  • Prayers

Chaplet of the Divine Mercy

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name; Thy kingdom come; Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee; blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Creator of heaven and earth; and in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended into hell; the third day He arose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven, sits at the right hand of God, the Father Almighty; from thence He shall come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Holy Catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting. Amen.

On the five large beads:

Eternal Father, I offer You the Body and Blood,

Soul and Divinity of Your dearly beloved Son, Our Lord Jesus Christ,

in atonement for our sins and those of the whole world.

On the ten small beads:

For the sake of His sorrowful Passion,
have mercy on us and on the whole world.

Conclude with (3 times):

Holy God, Holy Mighty One, Holy Immortal One,

have mercy on us and on the whole world.

Sister Faustina :  As I was praying in this manner, I saw the Angel’s helplessness: he could not carry out the just punishment which was rightly due for sins (Diary 475).

In the chapel, the Lord Jesus told Sister Faustina how the prayer, which we call the Chaplet to the Divine Mercy, should be said :

First of all, you will say one ‚Our Father’ and ‚Hail Mary’ and the ‚I Believe In God’.

Then on the ‚Our Father’ beads you will say the following words: ‚Eternal Father, I offer You the Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity of Your dearly beloved Son, Our Lord Jesus Christ, in atonement for our sins and those of the whole world.’

On the ‚Hail Mary’ beads you will say the following words: ‚For the sake of His sorrowful Passion have mercy on us and on the whole world.’

In conclusion, three times you will recite these words: ‚Holy God, Holy Mighty One, Holy Immortal One, have mercy on us and on the whole world’ (Diary 476).

Promises

The Lord Jesus said  :

  • It pleases Me to grant everything they [people] ask of Me by saying the chaplet (Diary 1541),  if…..  it is compatible with My will (Diary 1731).
  • At the hour of their death, I defend as My own glory every soul that will say this chaplet; or [if] the Chaplet is said by the bedside of a dying person, then the indulgence [for the dying] is the same. When this chaplet is said by the bedside of a dying person, God’s anger is placated and unfathomable mercy envelops the soul (Diary 811).
  • Even if there were a sinner most hardened, if he were to recite this chaplet only once, he would receive grace from My infinite mercy (Diary 687).
  • By saying the chaplet you are bringing humankind closer to Me (Diary 929).
  • Priests are to recommend it to sinners as their last hope of salvation (Diary 687).

Divine Mercy Novena

images (2)

Jesus told Sister Faustina : I desire, that during these nine days you bring souls to the fount of My mercy, that they may draw from there strength and refreshment and whatever graces they need in the hardships of life and, especially, at the hour of death. On each day you will bring to My Heart a different group of souls, and you will immerse them in this ocean of My mercy, and I will bring all these souls into the house of My Father (…). On each day you will beg My Father, on the strength of My bitter Passion, for graces for these souls.

First Day

Today, bring to Me all mankind, especially all sinners, and immerse them in the ocean of My mercy. In this way you will console Me in the bitter grief into which the loss of souls plunges Me.

Most Merciful Jesus, whose very nature it is to have compassion on us and to forgive us, do not look upon our sins, but upon the trust which we place in Your infinite goodness. Receive us all into the abode of Your Most Compassionate Heart, and never let us escape from It. We beg this of You by Your love which unites You to the Father and the Holy Spirit.

Eternal Father, turn Your merciful gaze upon all mankind and especially upon poor sinners, all enfolded in the Most Compassionate Heart of Jesus. For the sake of His sorrowful Passion, show us Your mercy, that we may praise the omnipotence of Your mercy forever and ever. Amen.

Second Day

Today bring to Me the souls of priests and religious, and immerse them in My unfathomable mercy. It was they who gave Me the strength to endure My bitter Passion. Through them, as through channels, My mercy flows out upon mankind.

Most Merciful Jesus, from whom comes all that is good, increase Your grace in us, that we may perform worthy works of mercy, and that all who see us may glorify the Father of Mercy who is in heaven.

Eternal Father, turn Your merciful gaze upon the company (of chosen ones) in Your vineyard – upon the souls of priests and religious; and endow them with the strength of Your blessing. For the love of the Heart of Your Son, in which they are enfolded, impart to them Your power and light, that they may be able to guide others in the way of salvation, and with one voice sing praise to Your boundless mercy for ages without end. Amen.

Third Day

Today bring to Me all devout and faithful souls, and immerse them in the ocean of My mercy. These souls brought Me consolation on the Way of the Cross. They were that drop of consolation in the midst of an ocean of bitterness.

Most Merciful Jesus, from the treasury of Your mercy, You impart Your graces in great abundance to each and all. Receive us into the abode of Your Most Compassionate Heart and never let us escape from It. We beg this of You by that most wondrous love for the heavenly Father with which Your Heart burns so fiercely.

Eternal Father, turn Your merciful gaze upon faithful souls, as upon the inheritance of Your Son. For the sake of His sorrowful Passion, grant them Your blessing and surround them with Your constant protection. Thus may they never fail in love or lose the treasure of the holy faith, but rather, with all the hosts of Angels and Saints, may they glorify Your boundless mercy for endless ages. Amen.

Fourth Day

Tday bring to Me the pagans and those who do not yet know me. I was thinking also of them during My bitter Passion, and their future zeal comforted My Heart. Immerse them in the ocean of My mercy.

Most Compassionate Jesus, You are the Light of the whole world. Receive into the abode of Your Most Compassionate Heart the souls of pagans who as yet do not knowYou. Let the rays of Your grace enlighten them that they, too, together with us, may extol Your wonderful mercy; and do not let them escape from the abode which is Your Most Compassionate Heart.

Eternal Father, turn Your merciful gaze upon the souls of pagans and of those who as yet do not know You, but who are enclosed in the Most Compassionate Heart of Jesus. Draw them to the light of the Gospel. These souls do not know what great happiness it is to love You. Grant that they, too, may extol the generosity of Your mercy for endless ages. Amen.

Fifth Day

Today bring to Me the souls of heretics and schismatics, and immerse them in the ocean of My mercy. During My bitter Passion they tore at My Body and Heart; that is, My Church. As they return to unity with the Church, My wounds heal, and in this way they alleviate My Passion.

Most Merciful Jesus, Goodness Itself, You do not refuse light to those who seek it of You. Receive into the abode of Your Most Compassionate Heart the souls of heretics and schismatics. Draw them by Your light into the unity of the Church, and do not let them escape from the abode of Your Most Compassionate Heart; but bring it about that they, too, come to adore the generosity of Your mercy.

Eternal Father, turn Your merciful gaze upon the souls of heretics and schismatics, who have squandered Your blessings and misused Your graces by obstinately persisting in their errors. Do not look upon their errors, but upon the love of Your own Son and upon His bitter Passion, which He underwent for their sake, since they, too, are enclosed in the Most Compassionate Heart of Jesus. Bring it about that they also may glorify Your great mercy for endless ages. Amen.

Sixth Day

Today bring to Me the meek and humble souls and the souls of little children, and immerse them in My mercy. These souls most closely resemble My Heart. They strengthened Me during My bitter agony. I saw them as earthly Angels, who would keep vigil at My altars. I pour out upon them whole torrents of grace. Only the humble soul is able to receive My grace. I favor humble souls with My confidence.

Most Merciful Jesus, You Yourself have said, „Learn from Me for I am meek and humble of heart.” Receive into the abode of Your Most Compassionate Heart all meek and humble souls and the souls of little children. These souls send all heaven into ecstasy, and they are the heavenly Father’s favorites. They are a sweetsmelling bouquet before the throne of God; God Himself takes delight in their fragrance. These souls have a permanent abode in Your Most Compassionate Heart, O Jesus, and they unceasingly sing out a hymn of love and mercy.

Eternal Father, turn Your merciful gaze upon meek and humble souls, and upon the souls of little children, who are enfolded in the abode which is the Most Compassionate Heart of Jesus. These souls bear the closest resemblance to Your Son. Their fragrance rises from the earth and reaches Your very throne. Father of mercy and of all goodness, I beg You by the love You bear these souls and by the delight You take in them: bless the whole world, that all souls together may sing out the praises of Your mercy for endless ages. Amen.

Seventh Day

Today bring to Me the souls who especially venerate and glorify My mercy, and immerse them in My mercy. These souls sorrowed most over My Passion and entered most deeply into My Spirit. They are living images of My Compassionate Heart. These souls will shine with a special brightness in the next life. Not one of them will go into the fire of hell. I shall particularly defend each one of them at the hour of death.

Most Merciful Jesus, whose Heart is Love Itself, receive into the abode of Your Most Compassionate Heart the souls of those who particularly extol and venerate the greatness of Your mercy. These souls are mighty with the very power of God Himself. In the midst of all afflictions and adversities they go forward, confident of Your mercy. These souls are united to Jesus and carry all mankind on their shoulders. These souls will not be judged severely, but Your mercy will embrace them as they depart from this life.

Eternal Father, turn Your merciful gaze upon the souls who glorify and venerate Your greatest attribute, that of Your fathomless mercy, and who are enclosed in the Most Compassionate Heart of Jesus. These souls are a living Gospel; their hands are full of deeds of mercy, and their spirit, overflowing with joy, sings a canticle of mercy to You, O Most High! I beg You O God: Show them Your mercy according to the hope and trust they have placed in You. Let there be accomplished in them the promise of Jesus, who said to them, I Myself will defend as My own glory, during their lifetime, and especially at the hour of their death, those souls who will venerate My fathomless mercy.

Eighth Day

Today bring to Me the souls who are in the prison of Purgatory, and immerse them in the abyss of My mercy. Let the torrents of My Blood cool down their scorching flames. All these souls are greatly loved by Me. They are making retribution to My justice. It is in your power to bring them relief. Draw all the indulgences from the treasury of My Church and offer them the alms of the spirit and pay off their debt to My justice.

Most Merciful Jesus, You Yourself have said that You desire mercy; so I bring into the abode of Your Most Compassionate Heart the souls in Purgatory, souls who are very dear to You, and yet, who must make retribution to Your justice. May the streams of Blood and Water which gushed forth from Your Heart put out the flames of the purifying fire, that in that place, too, the power of Your mercy may be praised.

Eternal Father, turn Your merciful gaze upon the souls suffering in Purgatory, who are enfolded in the Most Compassionate Heart of Jesus. I beg You, by the sorrowful Passion of Jesus Your Son, and by all the bitterness with which His most sacred Soul was flooded, manifest Your mercy to the souls who are under Your just scrutiny. Look upon them in no other way than through the Wounds of Jesus, Your dearly beloved Son; for we firmly believe that there is no limit to Your goodness and compassion.

Ninth Day

Today bring to Me souls who have become lukewarm, and immerse them in the abyss of My mercy. These souls wound My Heart most painfully. My soul suffered the most dreadful loathing in the Garden of Olives because of lukewarm souls. They were the reason I cried out: „Father, take this cup away from Me, if it be Your will.” For them, the last hope of salvation is to flee to My mercy.

Most compassionate Jesus, You are Compassion Itself. I bring lukewarm souls into the abode of Your Most Compassionate Heart. In this fire of Your pure love let these tepid souls, who, like corpses, filled You with such deep loathing, be once again set aflame. O Most Compassionate Jesus, exercise the omnipotence of Your mercy and draw them into the very ardor of Your love; and bestow upon them the gift of holy love, for nothing is beyond Your power.

Eternal Father, turn Your merciful gaze upon lukewarm souls, who are nonetheless enfolded in the Most Compassionate Heart of Jesus. Father of Mercy, I beg You by the bitter Passion of Your son and by His three-hour agony on the Cross: Let them, too, glorify the abyss of Your mercy… (1209-1229).

MARY, MY MOTHER
O Mary, my Mother and my Lady, I offer You my soul, my body, my life and my death, and all that will follow it. I place everything in Your hands. O my Mother, cover my soul with Your virginal mantle and grant me the grace of purity of heart, soul and body. Defend me with Your power against all enemies, and especially against those who hide their malice behind the mask of virtue. O lovely lily! You are for me a mirror, O my Mother (Diary 79).
———————
O BLOOD AND WATER
O Blood and Water, which flowed out from the Heart of Jesus as a fountain of mercy for us, I Trust in You. (Diary 84)
MARY, IMMACULATE VIRGIN
O Mary, Immaculate Virgin,
Pure crystal for my heart,
You are my strength, O secure anchor,
You are a shield and protection for a weak heart.
O Mary, you are pure and unparalleled,
Virgin and Mother at one and the same time;
You’re beautiful as the sun, by nothing defiled.
Nothing is worthy of comparison to the image of Your soul.
Your beauty enthralled the Thrice-Holy One’s eye,
That He came down from heaven, forsaking th’eternal See’s throne,
And assumed from Your Heart Body and Blood,
Hiding for nine months in the Virgin’s Heart.
O Mother, Virgin, this will no one comprehend,
That the infinite God is becoming a man;
It’s only love’s and His inscrutable mercy’s purpose.
Through You, Mother — it’s given us to live with Him for ever.
O Mary, Virgin Mother and Heaven’s Gate,
Through You salvation came to us;
Every grace to us streams forth through Your hands,
And faithful imitation of You only will sanctify me.
O Mother, Virgin — most beautiful Lily.
Your Heart was for Jesus the first tabernacle on earth,
And that, because Your humility was the deepest,
Wherefore You were raised above Angel choirs and Saints.
O Mary, my sweet Mother,
To You I turn over my soul, my body and my poor heart.
Be the safeguard of my life,
Especially at death’s hour, in the final fight (Diary 161).
———————
O MARY, MY MOTHER
O Mary, my Mother, I humbly beg of You, cover my soul with Your virginal cloak at this very important moment of my life, so that thus I may become dearer to Your Son and may worthily praise Your Son’s mercy before the whole world and throughout all eternity
(Diary 220).
———————
MOTHER OF GOD
Mother of God, Most Holy Mary, my Mother, You are my Mother in a special way now because Your beloved Son is my Bridegroom, and thus we are both Your children. For Your Son’s sake, You have to love me. O Mary, my dearest Mother,  guide my spiritual life in such a way that it will please Your Son (Diary 240).

MOTHER OF GOD
Mother of God, Your soul was plunged into a sea of bitterness; look upon Your child and teach her to suffer and to love while suffering. Fortify my soul that pain will not break it. Mother of grace, teach me to live by [the power of] God (Diary 315).
———————
MY JESUS, MY MASTER
“O my Jesus, my Master and Director, strengthen and enlighten me in these difficult moments of my life. I expect no help from people, all my hope is in You. I feel alone in the face of Your demands, O Lord. Despite the fears and qualms of my nature, I am fulfilling Your holy will And desire to fulfill it as faithfully as possible throughout my life and in my death. Jesus, with You I can do all things. Do with me as You please; only give me Your Heart and that is enough for me.” (Diary 650)
———————
RADIANT VIRGIN
O radiant Virgin, pure as crystal, all immersed in God, I offer You my spiritual life; arrange everything that it may be pleasing to Your Son (Diary 844).
———————
MARY, IMMACULATE VIRGIN
Mary, Immaculate Virgin, take me under Your special protection and guard the purity of my soul, heart and body. You are the model and star of my life (Diary 874).
———————
SWEET MOTHER
Sweet Mother, unite my soul to Jesus, because it is only then that I will be able to endure all trials and tribulations, and only in union with Jesus will my little sacrifices be pleasing to God. Sweetest Mother, continue to teach me about the interior life. May the sword of suffering never break me. O pure Virgin, pour courage into my heart and guard it (Diary 915).
———————
PURE AD HEALTHY BLOOD

Jesus, May Your pure and healthy Blood circulate in my ailing organism, and your pure and healthy Body transform my weak body, and may a healthy and vigorous life flowing once again within me, if it’s truly your Holy Will. Amen. (Diary 1089)

———————
O SWEET MOTHER OF GOD
O sweet Mother of God,
I model my life on You;
You are for me the bright dawn;
In You I lose myself, enraptured.
O Mother, Immaculate Virgin,
In You the divine ray is reflected,
Midst storms, ‘tis You who teach me to love the Lord,
O my shield and defense from the foe
(Diary 1232).

  • FOUR NOVENAS TO SAINT FAUSTINA

Metropolitan Curia in Cracow, imprimatur of Kazimierz Nycz, bishop of Cracow, on 22 November 2003 established THE four FOLLOWING novenas to Saint Faustina.

  • NOVENA TO SAINT FAUSTINA (1)

    Day I
The Knowledge of the Mystery of Divine Mercy

Jesus: Your life is to be modeled on Mine, from the crib to My death on the Cross. Penetrate My mysteries, and you will know the abyss of My mercy towards creatures and My unfathomable goodness – and this you shall make known to the world (Diary 438).
Sr.F.: O God, how I desire that souls come to know You and to see that You have created them because of Your unfathomable love; I feel that I am going to remove the veil of heaven so that the earth will not doubt Your goodness (Diary 483).

Saint Faustina, obtain for me the grace of penetrating more and more deeply into the mystery of God’s mercy in the work of creation, salvation and glory so that, like you, I may make it known to the world.

    Day II
The Contemplation of Mercy in Everyday Life

Jesus: When you reflect upon what I tell you in the depths of your heart, you profit more than if you had read many books. Oh, if souls would only want to listen to My voice when I am speaking in the depths of their hearts, they would reach the peak of holiness in a short time (Diary 584).
Sr.F.: God, I look for no happiness beyond my own interior where You dwell. I rejoice that You dwell within me; here I abide with You unendingly; it is here that my greatest intimacy with You exists; here I dwell with You in safety; here is a place not probed by the human eye. The Blessed Virgin encourages me to commune with You in this way (cf. Diary 454).

Saint Faustina, teach me to abide with the Lord in my own soul, to listen to His voice and to experience with Him all the moments of my life. Ob- tain for me the grace of contemplating mercy in everyday life.

    Day III
The Attitude of Trust toward God

Jesus: My daughter, if I demand through you that people revere My mercy, you should be the first to distinguish yourself by this confidence in My mercy (Diary 742). I assure you of a permanent income on which you will live. Your duty will be to trust completely in My goodness, and My duty will be to give you all you need. I am making Myself de- pendent upon your trust: if your trust is great, then My generosity will be without limit (Diary 548).
Sr.F.: God, One in the Holy Trinity, I want to love You as no human soul has ever loved You before; and although I am utterly miserable and small, I have nevertheless cast the anchor of my trust deep down into the abyss of Your mercy, O my God and Creator! In spite of my great misery I fear nothing, but hope to sing You a hymn of glory for ever (Diary 283).

Saint Faustina, obtain for me the grace of childlike trust so that I may always and in everything faithfully fulfill God’s will, which is mercy itself for us.

    Day IV
The Attitude of Mercy toward Neighbour

Jesus: My daughter, (…) I demand from you deeds of mercy, which are to arise out of love for Me. You are to show mercy to your neighbours always and everywhere. You must not shrink from this or try to excuse or absolve yourself from it. I am giving you three ways of exercising mercy toward your neighbour: the first – by deed, the second – by word, the third – by prayer. In these three degrees is contained the fullness of mercy, and it is an unquestionable proof of love for Me. By this means a soul glorifies and pays reverence to My mercy (Diary 742).
Sr.F.: My Jesus, penetrate me through and through so that I might be able to reflect You in my whole life. Divinize me so that my deeds may have supernatural value. Grant that I may have love, compassion and mercy for every soul without exception. O my Jesus, each of Your saints reflects one of Your virtues; I desire to reflect Your compassionate heart, full of mercy; I want to glorify it. Let Your mercy, O Jesus, be impressed upon my heart and soul like a seal, and this will be my badge in this and the future life (Diary 1242).

Saint Faustina, intercede for me before the Lord so that my life, too, may be transformed into mercy exercised toward my neighbour by deed, word and prayer. May my eyes, ears, mouth, hands, feet, and heart be merciful.

    Day V
    Proclaiming the Message of Mercy

Jesus: In the Old Covenant I sent prophets wielding thunderbolts to My people. Today I am sending you with My mercy to the people of the whole world. I do not want to punish aching mankind, but I desire to heal it, pressing it to My Merciful Heart. I use punishment when they themselves force Me to do so; My hand is reluctant to take hold of the sword of justice. Before the Day of Justice I am sending the Day of Mercy (Diary 1588).
Sr.F.: O my God, let everything that is in me praise You, my Lord and Creator; and with every beat of my heart I want to praise Your unfat- homable mercy. I want to tell souls of Your goodness and encourage them to trust in Your mercy. That is my mission, which You yourself have entrusted to me, O Lord, in this life and in the life to come (Diary 1325).

Following your example, Saint Faustina, I want to proclaim to the world the message of Mercy by the witness of my life and word so that it may reach all the peoples of the earth and fill their hearts with hope. May Jesus’ promise be fulfilled in my life as well: Souls who spread the honour of My mercy I shield through their entire life as a tender mother her infant, and at the hour of death I will not be a Judge for them, but the Merciful Saviour (Diary 1075).

    Day VI
Imploring God’s Mercy for the World

Jesus: My daughter, I have inclined My heart to your requests. Your assignment and duty here on earth is to beg for mercy for the whole world (Diary 570). You will join prayers, fasts, mortifications, labors and all sufferings to My prayer, fasting, mortification, labors and sufferings and then they will have power before My Father (Diary 531). I am making you the administrator of My mercy (Diary 570).
Sr.F.: O my God, I am conscious of my mission in the Holy Church. It is my constant endeavor to plead for mercy for the world. I unite myself closely with Jesus and stand before Him as an atoning sacrifice on behalf of the world. God will refuse me nothing when I entreat Him with the voice of His Son. My sacrifice is nothing in itself, but when I join it to the sacrifice of Jesus Christ, it becomes all-powerful and has the power to appease divine wrath. God loves us in His Son; the painful Passion of the Son of God constantly turns aside the wrath of God (Diary 482).

Together with you, Saint Faustina, I want to plead for mercy for the whole world, particularly for sinners as well as for priests and religious so that, living in the world, they may lead the people of God on the paths of salvation.

    Day VII
Love for the Church – the Mystical Body of Christ

Jesus: My daughter, consider the life of God which is found in the Church for the salvation and the sanctification of your soul. Consider the use that you make of these treasures of grace, of these efforts of My love (Diary 1758).
Sr.F.: Jesus, I am striving for sanctity, because in this way I shall be useful to the Church. I make constant efforts in practising virtue. I try faithfully to follow Jesus. And I deposit this whole series of daily virtues – silent, hidden, almost imperceptible, but made with great love – in the treasury of God’s Church for the common benefit of souls. I feel interiorly as if I were responsible for all souls. I know very well that I do not live for myself alone, but for the entire Church (Diary 1505).

Grateful for all the gifts of God’s mercy available to me in the Church, I want to make use of them like you, Saint Faustina, in order to become a saint and so draw other souls to the founts of God’s mercy.

    Day VIII
Meeting with Jesus in the Sacraments

Jesus: Oh, how painful it is to Me that souls so seldom unite themselves to Me in Holy Communion. I wait for souls, and they are indifferent toward Me. I love them tenderly and sincerely, and they distrust Me. I want to lavish My graces on them, and they do not want to accept them. They treat Me as a dead object, whereas My Heart is full of love and mercy. In order that you may know at least some of My pain, imagine the most tender of mothers who has great love for her children, while those children spurn her love. Consider her pain. No one is in position to console her. This is but a feeble image and likeness of My love (Diary 1447).
Sr.F.: Jesus, there is one more secret in my life, the deepest and dearest to my heart: it is You yourself when You come to my heart under the appearance of bread. Herein lies the whole secret of my sanctity. Here my heart is so united with Yours as to be but one. There are no more secrets, because all that is Yours is mine, and all that is mine is Yours. Such is the omnipotence and the miracle of Your mercy (Diary 1489). All the good that is in me is due to Holy Communion. I owe everything to it. I feel that this holy fire has transformed me completely. Oh, how happy I am to be a dwelling place for You, O Lord! My heart is a temple in which you dwell continually (Diary 1392).

Saint Faustina, obtain for me the grace of living faith so that each sacrament be for me a privileged place of meeting with the Lord, and may the Eucharist be at the very centre of my entire life, transforming it into love.

    Day IX
    Devotion to Our Lady

Jesus: Your lives must be like Mine: quiet and hidden, in unceasing union with God, pleading for humanity and preparing the world for the second coming of God (Diary 625).
Sr.F.: O sweet Mother of God, I model my life on You. You are for me the bright dawn; in You I lose myself enraptured. O Mother, Immaculate Virgin, in You the divine ray is reflected. Midst storms, it is You who teach me to love the Lord, O my shield and defense from the foe (Diary 1232).

Saint Faustina, most faithful daughter of the Mother of Mercy, hide me under Her mantle so that She may lead me to Jesus and teach me to participate in His life and mission of revealing to the world the mercy of the heavenly Father. Like Mary, I want to give Jesus – Mercy Incarnate – to people and prepare the world for His second coming.

  • NOVENA TO SAINT FAUSTINA (2)
For the Knowledge of the Mystery of God’s Mercy

    Day I
Coming to Know the Lord God

I was reflecting on the Holy Trinity, on the essence of God. I absolutely wanted to know and fathom who God is. In an instant my spirit was caught up into what seemed to be the next world. I saw an inaccessible light, and in this light what appeared like three sources of light which I could not understand. Suddenly, from this sea of inaccessible light came our dearly beloved Saviour, unutterably beautiful with His shining Wounds. And from this light came a voice which said, Who God is in His Essence, no one will fathom, neither the mind of Angels nor of man. Get to know God by contemplating His attributes (cf. Diary 30). The Lord gave me much light to know His attributes. The first attribute which the Lord gave me to know is His holiness; the second attribute is His justice which reaches deep into the heart of things; and the third one is His love and mercy. And I understood that the greatest attribute is love and mercy. It unites the creature with the Creator (cf. Diary 180).

Saint Faustina, obtain for me the grace of penetrating more and more deeply into the mystery of God’s mercy and of contemplating it in everyday life so that my life may be a living reflection of this greatest attribute of God.

    Day II
Divine Mercy in the Creation of the Angels

O God, who are happiness in Your very self and have no need of creatures to make You happy, because of Yourself You are the fullness of love; yet, out of Your fathomless mercy You call creatures into being and grant them a share in Your eternal happiness and in Your life, that divine indwelling life which You live, One God in Three Persons. In Your unfathomable mercy, You have created angelic spirits and admitted them to Your love and to Your divine intimacy. You have made them capable of eternal love. Although You bestowed on them so generously, O Lord, the splendor of love and beauty, Your fullness was not diminished in the least, O God, nor have their love and beauty completed You, because You are everything in Yourself. And if You have allowed them to participate in Your happiness and to exist and to love You, that is only due to the abyss of Your mercy (Diary 1741).

Saint Faustina, obtain for me the grace of penetrating more and more deeply into the mystery of God’s mercy and of contemplating it in everyday life so that my life may be a living reflection of this greatest attribute of God.

    Day III
Divine Mercy in the Creation of the World

O God, how generously Your mercy is spread everywhere, and You have done all this for man. Oh, how much You must love him, since Your love is so active on his behalf. O my Creator and Lord, I see on all sides the trace of Your hand and the seal of Your mercy, which embraces all created things (Diary 1749). I adore You for all the works of Your hands, that reveal to me such much wisdom, goodness and mercy, O Lord. You have spread so much beauty over the earth, and it tells me about Your beauty (Diary 1692).

Saint Faustina, obtain for me the grace of penetrating more and more deeply into the mystery of God’s mercy and of contemplating it in everyday life so that my life may be a living reflection of this greatest attribute of God.

    Day IV
Divine Mercy in the Creation of Man

God, who in Your mercy have deigned to call man from nothingness into being, generously have You bestowed upon him nature and grace. But that seemed too little for Your infinite goodness. In Your mercy, O Lord, You have given us everlasting life. You admit us to Your everlasting happiness and grant us to share in Your interior life. And You do this solely out of Your mercy. You bestow on us the gift of Your grace, only because You are good and full of love. You had no need of us at all to be happy, but You, O Lord, want to share Your own happiness with us (Diary 1743).

Saint Faustina, obtain for me the grace of penetrating more and more deeply into the mystery of God’s mercy and of contemplating it in everyday life so that my life may be a living reflection of this greatest attribute of God.

    Day V
Divine Mercy in the Mystery of the Incarnation

God, You did not destroy man after his fall, but in Your mercy You forgave him, You forgave in a divine way; that is, not only have You absolved him from guilt, but You have bestowed upon him every grace. Mercy has moved You to deign to descend among us and lift us up from our misery. And the inconceivable miracle of Your mercy takes place, O Lord. The Word becomes flesh; God dwells among us, the Word of God, Mercy Incarnate. By your descent, You have lifted us up to Your divinity. Such is the excess of Your love, the abyss of Your mercy. Heaven is amazed at the supera- bundance of Your love. No one fears to approach You now. You are the God of mercy. You have compassion on misery. You are our God, and we are Your people. You are our Father, and we are Your children by grace. Praise be to Your mercy, that You have deigned to descend among us (Diary 1745).

Saint Faustina, obtain for me the grace of penetrating more and more deeply into the mystery of God’s mercy and of contemplating it in everyday life so that my life may be a living reflection of this greatest attribute of God.

    Day VI
Divine Mercy in the Work of Redemption

God, You could have saved thousands of worlds with one word; a single sigh from Jesus would have satisfied Your justice. But You Yourself, Jesus, purely out of love for us, underwent such a terrible Passion. Your Father’s justice would have been propitiated with a single sigh from You, and all Your self-abasement is solely the work of Your mercy and Your incon- ceivable love. At the moment of Your death on the Cross, You bestowed upon us eternal life; allowing Your most holy side to be opened, You opened an inexhaustible spring of mercy for us, giving us Your dearest possession, the Blood and Water from Your Heart. Such is the omnipotence of Your mercy. From it all grace flows to us (Diary 1747).

Saint Faustina, obtain for me the grace of penetrating more and more deeply into the mystery of God’s mercy and of contemplating it in everyday life so that my life may be a living reflection of this greatest attribute of God.

    Day VII
Divine Mercy in the Holy Church

On leaving the earth, O Lord, You wanted to stay with us, and so You left us Yourself in the Sacrament of the Altar, and You opened wide Your mercy to us. There is no misery that could exhaust You; You have called us all to this fountain of love, to this spring of God’s compassion. Here is the tabernacle of Your mercy, here is the remedy for all our ills. To You, O living spring of mercy, all souls are drawn; some like deer, thirsting for Your love, others to wash the wound of their sins, and still others, exhausted by life, to draw strength (Diary 1747).

Saint Faustina, obtain for me the grace of penetrating more and more deeply into the mystery of God’s mercy and of contemplating it in everyday life so that my life may be a living reflection of this greatest attribute of God.

    Day VIII
Divine Mercy in Man’s Union with God

My Lord and Creator, Your goodness encourages me to converse with You. Your mercy abolishes the chasm which separates the Creator from the creature. To converse with You, O Lord, is the delight of my heart. In You I find everything that my heart could desire. Here Your light illumines my mind, enabling it to know You more and more deeply. Here streams of graces flow down upon my heart. Here my soul draws eternal life. O my Lord and Creator, You alone, beyond all these gifts, give Your own self to me and unite Yourself intimately with Your miserable creature. For this incomprehensible goodness of Yours, I adore You, O Lord and Creator, with all my heart and all my soul (Diary 1692).

Saint Faustina, obtain for me the grace of penetrating more and more deeply into the mystery of God’s mercy and of contemplating it in everyday life so that my life may be a living reflection of this greatest attribute of God.

    Day IX
    Divine Mercy in Eternal Life

Today I was in heaven, in spirit, and I saw its inconceivable beauties and the happiness that awaits us after death. I saw how all creatures give ceaseless praise and glory to God. I saw how great is happiness in God, which spreads to all creatures, making them happy. Now I understand Saint Paul, who said, «Eye has not seen, nor has ear heard, nor has it entered into the heart of man what God has prepared for those who love Him». Oh, how happy is the soul who already here on earth enjoys His special favours! And of such are the little and humble souls (Diary 777-778).

Saint Faustina, obtain for me the grace of penetrating more and more deeply into the mystery of God’s mercy and of contemplating it in everyday life so that my life may be a living reflection of this greatest attribute of God.

  • NOVENA TO SAINT FAUSTINA (3)
For the Grace of Childlike Trust

in this novena we ask for trust
and the virtues constituting childlike abandonment to God

    Day I
Happy are those who put their trust in God

Jesus: The soul that trusts in My mercy is most fortunate, because I myself take care of it (Diary 1273). I heap My confidence upon it and give it all it asks (Diary 453).
Sr. F.: I do not understand how it is possible not to trust in Him who can do all things. With Him, everything; without Him, nothing. He is Lord. He will not allow those who have placed all their trust in Him to be put to shame (Diary 358).

Saint Faustina, obtain for me the grace of childlike trust in the Lord God who can do all things. He is Wisdom itself and loves with an everlasting love.

    Day II
Trust as a Response to the Knowledge of the Mystery of God’s Mercy

Jesus: Everything that exists is enclosed in the bowels of My mercy, more deeply than an infant in its mother’s womb. How painfully distrust of My goodness wounds Me! Sins of distrust wound Me most painfully (Diary 1076).
Sr. F.: I know that even souls that are chosen and well-advanced in the
religious life or the spiritual life do not have the courage to entrust
themselves completely to God. And this is so because few souls know the
unfathomable mercy of God and His great goodness
     (Diary 731).

Saint Faustina, help me to penetrate more and more deeply into the mystery of God’s mercy; help me to come to know the goodness of God so that I may trust in Him ever more and that I may not hurt Him with my distrust.

    Day III
    Faith

Jesus: What you see in reality, these souls see through faith. Oh, how pleasing to Me is their great faith! For Me to be able to act upon a soul, the soul must have faith (Diary 1420).
Sr.F.: I fervently beg the Lord to strengthen my faith, so that in my drab, everyday life I will not be guided by human dispositions, but by those of the spirit. Oh, how everything drags man towards the earth! But lively faith maintains the soul in the higher regions (Diary 210).

Saint Faustina, obtain for me a strong and lively faith so that I may come to know the merciful love of God towards creatures, for the better I come to know Him, the more I will trust in Him.

    Day IV
    Hope

Jesus: Let the greatest sinners place their trust in My mercy. Souls that make an appeal to My mercy delight Me. To such souls I grant even more graces than they ask (Diary 1146).
Sr.F.: Even if I had the sins of the whole world, as well as the sins of all the condemned souls weighing on my conscience, I would not have doubted God’s goodness but, without hesitation, would have thrown myself into the abyss of the divine mercy, which is always open to us; and, with a heart crushed to dust, I would have cast myself at His feet, abandoning myself totally to His holy will, which is mercy itself (Diary 1552).

Saint Faustina, obtain for me unwavering hope so that, on my way to heaven, I may always count on God’s forgiveness and the help of His grace in every situation, particularly in difficult moments.

    Day V
    Love

Jesus: I am Love and Mercy itself. There is no misery that could be a match for My mercy, neither will misery exhaust it, because as it is being granted – it increases (Diary 1273). Love has brought Me here, and love keeps Me here. My daughter, if you knew what great merit and reward is earned by one act of pure love for Me, you would die of joy. I am saying this that you may constantly unite yourself with Me through love (Diary 576).
Sr.F.: Love, love and once again, love of God – there is nothing greater in heaven or on earth. The greatest greatness is to love God; true greatness is in loving God; real wisdom is to love God. All that is great and beautiful is in God; there is no beauty or greatness outside of Him (Diary 990).

Saint Faustina, obtain for me an ardent love for God so that I may love Him above all things, and all things in relation to Him.

    Day VI
    Humility

Jesus: I find pleasure, not in large buildings and magnificent structures, but in a pure and humble heart (Diary 532). The torrents of grace inundate humble souls. The proud remain always in poverty and misery, because My grace turns away from them to humble souls (Diary 1602).
Sr.F.: O how beautiful is a humble soul! (…) God refuses nothing to such a soul; she is all-powerful and influences the destiny of the world. God raises such a soul up to His very throne, and the more she humbles herself, the more God stoops down to her, pursuing her with His graces and accompanying her at every moment with His omnipo- tence. Such a soul is most deeply united with God (Diary 1306).

Saint Faustina, obtain for me the grace of true humility so that I may accept the truth about God, about the world and about myself. And may this make me trustful, like a child toward its heavenly Father, acknowledging my dependence on Him as Creator and Saviour.

    Day VII
    Contrition

Jesus: Write: I am Thrice Holy, and I detest the smallest sin. I cannot love a soul which is stained with sin; but when it repents, there is no limit to My generosity toward it. My mercy embraces and justifies it. With My mercy, I pursue sinners along all their paths, and My Heart rejoices when they return to Me (Diary 1728).
Sr.F.: It is when I meet with hypocrisy that I suffer most. Now, I understand You, my Saviour, for rebuking the pharisees so severely for their hypocrisy. You associated more graciously with hardened sinners when they approach You contritely (Diary 1579).

Saint Faustina, obtain for me the grace of heartfelt contrition for every sin and even for the smallest infidelity, since it was the cause of the terrible passion of Jesus. May the contrition of my heart obtain for me the forgiveness of my guilt and strengthen my trust in God’s mercy.

    Day VIII
    Doing God’s Will

Jesus: My daughter, you give Me most glory by patiently submitting to My will, and you win for yourself greater merit than that which any fast or mortification could ever gain for you. Know, My daughter, that if you submit your will to Mine, you draw upon yourself My special delight. This sacrifice is pleasing to Me and full of sweetness. I take great pleasure in it; there is power in it (Diary 904).
Sr.F.: The Lord has given me the light to know His will more profoundly and to abandon myself completely to the holy will of God. This light has confirmed me in profound peace, making me understand that I should fear nothing except sin. Whatever God sends me, I accept with complete submission to His holy will. Wherever He puts me, I will try faithfully to do His will, as well as His wishes, to the extent of my power to do so, even if the will of God were hard and difficult for me (cf. Diary 1394). For His holy will is for me mercy itself (cf. Diary 1552).

Saint Faustina, obtain for me the grace of fulfilling God’s will faithfully always and everywhere so that in this way I may express my trust toward the Lord God.

    Day IX
    The Vessel of Trust

Jesus: The graces of My mercy are drawn by means of one vessel only, and that is – trust. The more a soul trusts, the more it will receive. Souls that trust boundlessly are a great comfort to Me, because I pour all the treasures of My graces into them (Diary 1578).
Sr.F.: O Lord, my Love, I thank You for this day on which You have allowed me to draw a wealth of graces from the fountain of Your unfathomable mercy. O Jesus, not only today, but at every moment, I draw from Your unfathomable mercy everything that the soul and body could want (Diary 1178).

Saint Faustina, help me to obtain a large vessel of trust so that I may draw with it graces not only for myself, but also for the Church, my homeland, the whole world, and especially for souls who doubt God’s mercy.

  • NOVENA TO SAINT FAUSTINA (4)
For the Grace of Being Transformed into Mercy

    Day I

Jesus: Every soul should reflect My mercy (Diary 1148). Be always merciful as I am merciful. Love everyone out of love for Me, even your greatest enemies, so that My mercy may be fully reflected in your heart (Diary 1695).

Merciful Lord, with the words of Saint Faustina and together with her, I ask You to transform my life into mercy. I want to be completely transformed into Your mercy and to be Your living reflection, O Lord. May the greatest of all divine attributes, that of Your unfathomable mercy, pass through my heart and soul to my neighbour. Help me, O Lord, that my eyes may be merciful, so that I may never suspect or judge from appearances, but look for what is beautiful in my neighbours’ souls and come to their rescue. Help me, that my ears may be merciful, so that I may give heed to my neighbours’ needs and not be indifferent to their pains and moanings. Help me, O Lord, that my tongue may be merciful, so that I should never speak negatively of my neighbor, but have a word of comfort and forgiveness for all. Help me, O Lord, that my hands may be merciful and filled with good deeds, so that I may do only good to my neighbours and take upon myself the more difficult and toilsome tasks. Help me, that my feet may be merciful, so that I may hurry to assist my neighbour, overcoming my own fatigue and weariness. My true rest is in the service of my neighbour. Help me, O Lord, that my heart may be merciful so that I myself may feel all the sufferings of my neighbour. I will refuse my heart to no one. I will be sincere even with those who, I know, will abuse my kindness. And I will lock myself up in the most merciful Heart of Jesus. I will bear my own suffering in silence. May Your mercy, O Lord, rest upon me. O my Jesus, transform me into Yourself, for You can do all things (Diary 163).

    Day II

Jesus: I demand from you deeds of mercy, which are to arise out of love for Me. You are to show mercy to your neighbours always and everywhere. You must not shrink from this or try to excuse or absolve yourself from it (Diary 742).

    Day III

Jesus: I am giving you three ways of exercising mercy toward your neighbour: the first – by deed, the second – by word, the third – by prayer. In these three degrees is contained the fullness of mercy, and it is an unquestionable proof of love for Me. (…) Even the strongest faith is of no avail without works (Diary 742).

    Day IV

Jesus: Look into My Merciful Heart and reflect its compassion in your own heart and in your deeds, so that you, who proclaim My mercy to the world, may yourself be aflame with it (Diary 1688).

    Day V

Jesus: Know that whatever good you do to any soul, I accept it as if you had done it to Me (Diary 1768).

    Day VI

Jesus: Write this for the many souls who are often worried because they do not have the material means with which to carry out an act of mercy. Yet spiritual mercy, which requires neither permissions nor storehouses, is much more meritorious and is within the grasp of every soul (Diary 1317).

May Your mercy, O Lord, rest upon me. O my Jesus, transform me into Yourself, for You can do all things (Diary 163).

    Day VII

Jesus: I need sacrifice lovingly accomplished, because that alone has meaning for Me. Enormous indeed are the debts of the world which are due to Me; pure souls can pay them by their sacrifice, exercising mercy in spirit (Diary 1316).

    Day VIII

Jesus: I desire that your heart be an abiding place of My mercy. I desire that this mercy flow out upon the whole world through your heart. Let no one who approaches you go away without that trust in My mercy which I so ardently desire for souls (Diary 1777).

Merciful Lord, with the words of Saint Faustina and together with her, I ask You to transform my life into mercy. I want to be completely trans-ormed into Your mercy and to be Your living reflection, O Lord.

    Day IX

Jesus: If a soul does not exercise mercy somehow or other, it will not obtain My mercy on the day of judgment. Oh, if only souls knew how to gather eternal treasure for themselves, they would not be judged, for they would forestall My judgment with their mercy (Diary 1317)

May Your mercy, O Lord, rest upon me. O my Jesus, transform me into Yourself, for You can do all things (Diary 163).

O Lord, behold here before You a soul who exists in this world in order to allow You to exercise Your admirable MERCY and manifest it before heaven and earth.  Others may glorify You through their faithfulness and perseverance, thus making evident the power of Your grace.  How sweet and generous You are to those who are faithful to You!

Nevertheless I will glorify You by acquainting other of Your goodness to sinners and by reminding them that Your MERCY is above all malice, that nothing can exhaust it, and that no relapse, no matter how shameful or criminal, should allow the sinner to despair of forgivness.

I have offended You grievously, O beloved Redeemer, but it would be still worse if I were to offend You by thinking that You were lacking in goodness to forgive me. I would rather be deprived of everything else that the TRUST I have in Your MERCY.

Should I fall hundred times worse than they actually are, I would continue to trust in Your MERCY.

  • Inspiration from the Diary
  • St. Faustina encountered the Christ Child on Christmas Eve in 1937

When I arrived at Midnight Mass, from the very beginning I steeped myself in deep recollection, during which time I saw the stable of Bethlehem filled with great radiance. The Blessed Virgin, all lost in the deepest of love, was wrapping Jesus in swaddling clothes, but Saint Joseph was still asleep. Only after the Mother of God put Jesus in the manger did the light of God awaken Joseph, who also prayed. But after a while, I was left alone with the Infant Jesus who stretched out His little hands to me, and I understood that I was to take Him in my arms. Jesus pressed His head against my heart and gave me to know, by His profound gaze, how good He found it to be next to my heart (Diary, 1442).

  • December 25, 1936 – Midnight Mass
During Mass, God’s presence pierced me through and through. A moment before the Elevation I saw the Mother of God and the Infant Jesus and the good Old Man [St. Joseph]. The Most Holy Mother spoke these words to me: My daughter, Faustina, take this most precious Treasure, and she gave me the Infant Jesus. When I took Jesus in my arms, my soul felt such unspeakable joy that I am unable to describe it. But, strange thing, after a short while Jesus became awful, horrible looking, grown up and suffering; and then the vision vanished, and soon it was time to go to Holy Communion. When I received the Lord Jesus in Holy Communion, my soul trembled under the influence of God’s presence. The next day, I saw the Divine Infant for a brief moment during the Elevation.  (Diary 846)
